In the Mahabharat, Barbareek was a grandson of Bhima (second of the Pandava brothers), and the son of Ghatotkacha. He learnt the art of warfare from his mother Ahilavati. The gods (ashtadeva) gave him the three infallible arrows. Barbarik was so strong that according to him the battle of Mahabharata could finish in 1 minute if he independently was to fight it. Lord Krishna knew that The Kauravas would lose the war. He tested Ratan Yaksha (Barbareek) and further asked for his head. Ratan Yaksha (Barbareek) agreed to give his head on the condition of watching the war of Mahabharata. Ratan Yaksha was blessed to be worshipped as Khatu Shyam and his body as Kamru.
The story of Barbreek is not just one of war and valor, but of sacrifice, devotion, and the divine purpose that transcends worldly conflict. His devotion to Lord Krishna, his sacrifice, and his role as an observer of the war make him an intriguing and revered figure in Hindu mythology. The tale underscores the idea that even the most powerful of warriors can find their purpose in a more spiritual, transcendent way.
